Wardrobe Edits

One of my major goals post-graduation ( besides landing a job, obviously ) is to edit my wardrobe. And I'm talking serious edits. I want to cut down my closet(s) by about a third.

Pause for reaction.

Realistically, this is totally doable. However, I sometimes have attachment issues when it comes to giving up certain garments. I hold on to things I've never worn for those "just in case" moments – many of which have resulted in purchasing something new when those moments do happen.

To make it easier on myself, I've decided to create a few guidelines to determine which garments will make the cut:

01. If I were shopping today, would I buy this? If no, straight to the donation bin it goes.
02. When is the last time I've worn this? If it's more than six months ago, donate it.
03. Will this translate to my life as a college grad? It's perfectly fine to have a handful of pieces that aren't exactly work appropriate or grandma approved, but for the most part if you wouldn't want your boss to see you in, it's probably a good idea to donate it.
04. Does this actually fit me? Just because it's in style doesn't mean it's my style. Things that are too tight, too big, too short, or too long are probably just taking up too much space.
05. Can I wear this more than once? Items that are deemed wearable under specific circumstances are most likely not very versatile and therefore are likely not going to be worn anytime soon.

How do you guys go about updating your wardrobes?
