Seeing my name in print was a fairly regular occurrence in my college days ( or for that one year I worked slaved away as a reporter anyway. )
Soon after moving to Kansas City one of my co-workers informed me about an opportunity to get involved with the local AIGA chapter. For those of you who don't know, AIGA ( the American Institute of Graphic Arts ) is the professional association for the design world.
I took on the role of Social Media Chair, and basically create and share content for the KC chapter via their social channels. I've enjoyed having the extra responsibility, plus writing everyday – even a minimal amount – is nice.
Today was extra exciting because I wrote a short piece for the website about an upcoming event event featuring famed adman, George Lois. He's pretty much the real-life version of Mad Men's Don Draper, but don't tell him that. ( Apparently he resents the comparison. )
