How pathetic was my "I'm-in-a-rut-poor-me-wah-wah-wah" post the other day? Like, come on, there are so many beautiful reasons to be happy. I can find one. And that's exactly what I did.
Here's some advice on getting out of a rut
01. Laugh
Find something or someone to make you smile. This did it for me. It was epic and I'm still laughing and I don't know why but I love it.02. Converse
Call your mom, chat with a friend over coffee, go to the mall. Get out and talk to people, you'll feel a lot less sucky.03. Indulge
Splurge on a new fragrance, eat the dark chocolate ( and the granola, and the peanut butter... ), binge on Parks and Rec. Whatever it is, just own it, embrace, and remember you deserve it.04. Appreciate
It's often the little things that make us the happiest. Like finding a hand-written post card from my dad in the mail yesterday. Those things matter.05. Reflect
Living in the past isn't recommended, but it is okay to look back on some of the times that made you feel happiest.06. Learn
Take note of some of the factors surrounding your rut ( was work stressing you out, were you feeling ill, etc. ) to be better prepared for a future slump.07. Grow
Understand that ruts are a fact of life, but they don't have to be a way of life.
