Technology is great, isn't it? I know plenty of research suggests it's the bane of our existence – okay, maybe that's a little harsh, but you catch my drift. I spend my fair share of time in front of screens, scanning my phone, and being detached from real life.
That being said, I'm a sucker for a brilliant piece of tech. Today I'm rounding up a few of my favorite – and useful – additions.
| For the longest time I said I wouldn't convert to reading digital magazines. I much prefer flipping through the shiny pages, ripping out articles of interest, and dog-tagging pages to come back to. However, I recently discovered that my library offers free digital downloads of an array of mainstream magazine titles via Zinio, the world's largest newsstand for digital publications. Not only are the issues free and immediate, they're beautifully displayed across digital platforms. Bonus: the digital versions are interactive, include more information than the print versions, and offer a seamless and enjoyable user experience. Perfect for travel and catching up on the go.
| Raise your hand if you despise junk mail and a cluttered inbox. Keep your hand raised if despite hating a cluttered inbox, you sign up for dozens of newsletters and ads because you don't want to miss out on a good deal. Don't worry, my hand's still up, too. The beauty of this service is that it compiles and "rolls up" all of those dreaded subscriptions into one single email. Perfection.
| Okay, so this is an oldie, but definitely a goodie. I use this app on the daily and I don't think it's ever failed me. In fact, the other morning I caught the end of a song that sounded interesting, but by the time I dug out my phone and got the app up, all that was playing was the ending instrumental. But somehow that was enough for this glorious app, and within seconds I knew the song title and artist. Ah-mazing.
