I do not consider myself a yogi, but I do enjoy yoga despite my lack of flexibility, inability to shut off my brain, and enormous pet peeve of loud breathing. Which is surprising, seeing as though these are major issues that would normally have me so frustrated I would never want to practice yoga again.
Yet here I am, doing downward dogs and sun salutations like a boss. There's something about yoga I find so refreshing. I used to scoff at yoga, because I was viewing it as a lazy girl's workout. What I'm learning though is that yoga is a crucial component of overall health and well-being. As this infographic shows, yoga can transform your body and mind almost immediately.
For example, I do yoga over lunch every Wednesday and I rarely have an afternoon slump and feel like I am more productive and focused post practice. It's truly amazing. I think taking a break for yourself and releasing some of the built-up tension ( even just a little ) does profound things for the body, mind, and soul.
Namaste.
