04.18

Finally! With April came Spring. Warm weather is here to stay (fingers crossed), and it’s been so great on my mood. Squeezing in a walk over lunch helps to break up the day. Plus it’s grilling/patio season, which is my happy place. April was a good mix of fun and productivity.

April 2018

ChARLESTON
Oh, Charleston. What a charming and beautiful city. We celebrated Donna’s last fling before the ring with several days of day drinking, shopping and eating our way through the streets of downtown Charleston. I loved how it had a small-town vibe, but there was no shortage of things to do. Plus, the architecture was stunning and southern charm is actually a thing (unless you’re getting late night pizza, woof).

PAWN + PINT
One Saturday night we met with friends at a bar downtown that is a library for board games, and a bar. They have an extensive collection of board games to choose from, as well as an extensive drink menu. We started the night with Sorry, and ended with a strange game that ended up being hilarious and fun. Definitely a great concept as a fun way to enhance the game night experience.

FUN
The house hunt continues, but still no dice. Thomas and I walked to a new bar/restaurant nearby for a Friday date night, and we somehow ended up back there on Sunday morning for brunch. I cleaned out my closet and sold/donated items that no longer suit me (this wasn’t necessarily fun or easy, but damn, it felt good to get rid of some crap I was holding on to). Savannah and I spent a chilly Saturday afternoon at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art where we did a scavenger hunt and she drew in her sketchbook, followed by a trip to Donut Lounge for an afternoon pick-me-up.

BOOKS
Everything You Want Me to Be – The storyline of this book could have easily veered into cheesy territory, but the character development and unexpected twists kept my attention. Plus, it’s set in southern Minnesota so there was some familiarity there. Good, easy read for when your flight is grounded for several hours.

How to Get Shit Done – This book didn’t exactly provide any earth shattering knowledge, but I think repeatedly hearing productivity tips is the only way to keep them top of mind. The more we are reminded about the importance of saying no more often, eliminating negativity from our lives, and reducing the amount of things we try to accomplish one day, the more we can remember to prioritize our time on the things and tasks that are most important to helping us achieve our ultimate goals.

PRODUCTS + THINGS
Drunk Elephant Protini – When you have oily skin, the last thing you want to do is slather on a moisturizer. But this product is so unlike anything else I’ve tried and is an oily girl’s dream. This has quickly become one of those holy grail products that is definitely worth every penny.

MBG Podcast – Confession: The digital world is making me anxious. The amount of time I spend in front of a screen is really frustrating, and it’s embarrassing how many times I reach for my phone. In an effort to reduce the amount of time I mindlessly scroll through IG, I’ve started playing podcasts first thing in the morning when I’m getting ready for work. Having something interesting on is the key - if I’m not intrigued, I find myself watching stories while the podcast is playing. The MindBodyGreen podcast keeps my attention and their guests are so fucking knowledgeable. Small steps...
