Design Crush // Cafe Evoke

I've never had a yearning to travel to Oklahoma, but I may have to add it to my bucket list just to visit this well-branded cafe. I mean look at this palette – doesn't this just beg to be seen?

The folks over at FoundryCo ( which is actually no longer in business ) sure took a fresh, vibrant approach to brand the Edmond-based eatery. The colors first captured my attention when I saw the web layout on Pinterest. I quickly navigated to the cafe's website and was pleasantly surprised to see the layout was not only live, but gorgeous.

And the typography. The typography sealed the deal for me. Talk about effective use of mixed typefaces. Seriously, take a peek around their website and bask in greatness of serif and sans-serif balancedness. To top it off, the branding included color blocks and clean lines placed so precisely they seam effortlessly into the design. Kudos to all involved.

Oklahoma, I'm coming for you!

Design Crush // Bernadette Pascua

Oh. My. God.
I have died and went to watercolor heaven.

Seriously, please tell me you guys are drooling over Bernadette Pascua's work as much as I am. I've seen these gorgeous illustrations circulated online, but somehow never managed to find out who was the genius behind the work.

Enter the holy grail of watercolor meets fashion. Bernadette Pascua, a self-proclaimed "multi-disciplinary artist," lives in New York and puts all other watercolor artists to shame. I'm kidding, of course, but look at her work – it's insane. Looking through her portfolio makes me happy. And jealous. And want to break out my gouaches and watercolor the shit out of paper in hopes of doing something remotely as amazing as her.

Anyone whose work causes that sort of reaction is clearly doing something right, in my opinion. And as though the watercolor illustrations aren't enough, her hand lettering skills are ridiculous. Oh, and her work has been featured in W, Glamour, and Vogue. No big deal.
